Torre del Lago Puccini - "La Boheme" by Puccini. And the city as a sign of respect added his name to the name of the Master, called the Torre del Lago Puccini now. The moment was a special one for me, as "La Boheme" became my favorite of the Puccini opera, after seeing the magnificent interpretation of Angela Gheorghiu in Munich on July 2012. (It’s true that I saw her in Floria Tosca too, but "Tosca" I liked already! Angela made me to love "La Boheme"! On the way from the station to the festival, about two kilometers, I have not seen any posters or other advertising material about the festival. However, the auditorium is full 80%, price ranges from 17, 50 euros to 159 euros. Also I rediscovered with pleasure street names, the main one being called "G.Puccini", others works more with opera names that evening noticing it, of course, the one called "La Boheme". Installation was a classic one, but with some modern ideas. The light changes from one picture to another, giving the impression of a change of scenery, which was not the case. They took place but between acts, the changes being made by rotating the rotary stage (modulation) by... "animal" traction :-) , meaning human traction. Rodolfo was very young, but well played. Mimi, more mature and a metallic voice. Colline and Shaunard tricky in attitude, but good as voices. Details were treated properly - for example at Momus, in the back, while the main actors doing their roles, a waiter arguing with a customer, action very suitable for playing pub atmosphere. However, "cufieta" was not "rosa", but I guess it did so. And another detail "unsuccessful" Musset is slamming a plate on the floor, it does not break, so take it and slams once again now managed to break. :-). The break bell invites viewers to take seats in cadence of silent choir of "Madama Butterfly". I do not know if I wrote last year, I think I ddi, but I write now to be sure: the bar of the spacious foyer of the theater is called... Two drops of rain occur, and the music stops immediately! Restarted after a while, the audience waited in silence, then clapping to encourage the orchestra, which darted immediately returns to its place. Opera resumed with "Marcello, finalmente" and a moment I had the feeling that Rodolfo will make a small joke ("finalmente / finally, the rain stopped"), given the forced break and the fact that the audience were out of the spell opera, but neither about it. Foyer bar is called, what else?, "Momus". And in the foyer, a wide, spacious one, besides the bar is a store with materials on sale exclusively about Puccini and his operas, CDs, DVDs, books, T-shirts (I got myself one that says "La Boheme";-) ), pencils, pens, old records and more. Also in the foyer are posters with works of Puccini, photographs, descriptions, a piano, a statue, all though many uncrowded located, keeping an airy space. Later, the second break due to a drop of rain. Colline just finished of "sold" coat says "Schaunard" and some of the orchestra and again take their tools and run in backstage! The public seems less agree this time, given that many probably have not noticed any "rain" that drove orchestra that consisted of a drop, maximum one and a half! :-) Some whistle, others clap of encouragement, most silent and waiting to restart the show, and it’s happened before the viewers lost patience. This year organizers have placed billboards on the alleys at the entrance and around the theater that were Puccini Prize winners from previous years. Of course, the most important;-), Romanian Virginia Zeani, winner in 1992. And the other big names: Luciano Pavarotti, Montserrat Caballe, Brigit Nilson, Renata Scoto, Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi, Ricardo Muti, Franco Zeffirelli, Woody Allen. Other Romanian attendances encountered: at the musical goods store located at the entrance / exit of the yard festival, a DVD of Angela Gheorghiu with areas composed by Puccini and an old pick-up drive with "Gianni Schicchi" by Puccini with Ileana Cotrubaş same complementing a select company, Tito Gobbi and Placido Domingo.
