Don Quixote back at La Scala‏ [ From category News ] [ Subcategory Milano Teatro alla Scala ] [ Article date: 2016-03-08 ] [ From city Milano ] [ Country Italia ]   Till 1 April, Don Quixote is back at La Scala on Ludwig Minkus` brilliant music, with the classic choreography by Rudolf Nureyev and the colourful staging by Raffaele Del Savio and Anna Anni. This ballet joins the energy of gypsy dances and fandangos to the lightness of Dryades` Garden. The adventures of Don Quixote and his loyal squire Sancho Panza overlap with the love story of Kitri and Basilio, in a cheerful parade of misunderstandings and disguises, where funny supporting roles alternate with virtuoso leading ones. The Mariinsky principal Leonid Sarafanov will be on scene as guest star on the 6th, 8th and 10th of March. This year is also the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, a precious opportunity to discover the influence of his famous novel on the history of art. Therefore, during the month of March, Teatro alla Scala, together with Instituto Cervantes, Università degli Studi di Milano and Gallerie d`Italia - Piazza Scala, organizes a schedule of themed events in the city:
