Carmen and The Magic Flute to Dubai Opera House [ From category News ] [ Article date: 2018-06-27 ] [ From city Dubai ] [ Country EAU ]   One of the world`s best-loved operas, Carmen, comes to Dubai Opera from 6th - 8th September 2018. Including the Habanera aria and the March of the Toreadors, Bizet`s Carmen is a story of fiery passion and heart-stopping drama in a production complete with spectacular costumes and sets and, of course, an incredible orchestra and company to bring it all to life on Dubai Opera`s world-class stage! Carmen is the most famous of Bizet`s operas and premiered at Opéra Comique in Paris in 1875. With its exotic Spanish setting, the opera deals with the love and jealousy of Don José, who is lured away from his duty as a soldier and his beloved Micaëla by the gypsy factory-girl Carmen, whom he allows to escape from custody. He is later persuaded to join the smugglers with whom Carmen is associated, but is driven wild by jealousy. This comes to a head when Carmen makes clear her preference for the bull-fighter Escamillo. The last act, outside the bull-ring in Seville, brings Escamillo to the arena, accompanied by Carmen, there stabbed to death by Don José, who has been awaiting her arrival. Carmen will be sung in French with English surtitles. A few days later, Mozart`s beloved opera, The Magic Flute, comes to Dubai Opera from 13 - 15 September in a dazzling production, offering audiences spectacular music set around a comic fairy tale. Join Tamino, Papageno, and Pamina in this fairy-tale adventure and let Mozart`s enchanting masterpiece transport you to a world of fantasy and the realm of the Queen of the Night.
