Carmen is flying straight from Arena di Verona to New York

Bizet`s Carmen, in Franco Zeffirelli`s iconic staging, has only been back at the Arena for three weeks, but has already achieved record-breaking success. And now it`s set to land in the USA!

Screening in New York

If you are in the Big Apple, don`t miss this opportunity: on Sunday 3 August, at 5 p.m., the opera will be screened outdoors in Bryant Park, thanks to a collaboration between Carnegie Hall and the Fondazione Arena.

This will be the first free open air film screening of the Carnegie Hall+ streaming channel: a way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Bizet`s death and the 30th birthday of this iconic production - a true Arena legend.

The cast

The version recorded at the Arena in 2022 will be screened with an exceptional cast: Elīna Garanča in the title role, Brian Jagde as Don José, Claudio Sgura as Escamillo and Maria Teresa Leva in the role of Micaela, directed by Marco Armiliato.

The film, directed by Tiziano Mancini, is a joint production of UNITEL, ZDF and 3sat, made in collaboration with the Fondazione Arena di Verona.

The Arena around the world

After the screening of Carmen, the Arena is heading to various corners of the world:

• Thursday 7 August: La Bohème, directed by Alfonso Signorini, will be screened at the Cervantes theatre and in the Aragonia cinemas in Zaragoza, Spain;

• from September, Nabucco, in the staging designed by Stefano Poda, will tour Europe: screenings in the Czech Republic, Serbia, Greece... and beyond!
